Pocket Wally’s Sight Words includes word sets for pre-K, Kindergarten, first, second and third grades.  A future version will include the nouns word set.

Pocket Wally Sight Words is based on The Dolch Word List which was originally compiled by Edward William Dolch, PhD, in 1948.  The Dolch Sights Words are a group of 220 words that are taught in many schools’ reading programs. It includes the most frequently used words in the English language.  It also contains words that are difficult for a beginning reader to sound out phonetically, making it necessary to learn these words “by sight.”  Learning sight words is an essential foundation upon which to base later reading skills.  The key to learning the words is repetition and practice.
